Client Case Study – Barbara Cameron Pix

Client Case Study – Barbara Cameron Pix

A new client of ours, Barbara Cameron Pix is a fabulous and talented globe-trotting food and travel photographer that is embarking on a new journey around the world.  Read on to learn all about her journey as a solopreneur and why she decided to bring us on board…

Barbara, tell us a little bit about your business…

After ten years as a professional photographer specializing in business branding photography – food, architecture, corporate headshots, products, etc – I recently decided to shift gears and transition into a global food & travel photographer and blogger. It’s like starting all over, and my vision is big and exciting!

At what point did you decide to hire a Virtual Assistant?

Deciding to do it and actually doing it are two different things. I’ve known for a few years that I needed to get out of my own way and outsource some of my business tasks so that I could focus on what I do best. But as a solopreneur, it’s a big challenge to let go of the reins! In 2017 I had a VA help me build a brand new website, and then it got hacked…twice! I rebuilt it myself the first time but didn’t have the motivation to do it again. And in fact, that second hack was the final impetus to change career direction… if I had to rebuild my website, why not re-brand now? That was a bigger job, and one I knew I couldn’t do alone. But I didn’t have the budget to hire a full-service marketing firm or employee. So I looked for a competent VA to help.

Why did you choose Roche Online Business Services?

There’s just something about Debbie! 🙂 Seriously, I had worked with two previous VAs. The first one was great but didn’t stay in business. The second one didn’t work out too well. So I was cautious about committing my business to another VA. I wanted a long-term partner who understood me and my vision and who could get to work quickly to help me realize my goals. I researched and interviewed three potential partners, and Roche Online Business Services definitely came out on top!

Debbie’s quick and professional response to my initial outreach, and her quick understanding of my bigger vision and immediate tasks won me over. Plus, the price was right! The pricing packages are clear, concise and right within the budget range for a solopreneur.

In what way do you think that having a Virtual Assistant has helped your business grow?

In a very short period of time, I have seen a big uptick in website visitors, email marketing subscribers and social media followers. Those are the tangible benefits. But more importantly, I feel confident that I have found a real marketing partner, I feel supported by a team who is on my side, as excited for my growth as I am!

What has been the best thing about working with Roche Online Business Services?

I just love how fast Debbie and her team were able to grasp my bigger brand vision and immediate needs, and get to work to implement. They are smart, professional and super-efficient. They get more quality work done in an hour than I could ever imagine. And they communicate so well, I always feel on track.

What would you recommend to other businesses who might be looking to hire a Virtual Assistant? What should they look for? How should they prepare?

First, let go! You really do have to get out of your own way. Just because you can do or have been doing everything in your business doesn’t mean you should!

Prepare by first creating your vision and goals. Knowing that, a good VA will be able to lay out a clear path of strategies and tactics to help you get there.

Also prepare by looking at the things you do on a daily basis that you don’t like to do! Or the things that you procrastinate on, you know, the action items that get delayed and delayed and delayed. Voila, those are the things you should outsource!

And then start looking. You don’t have to look too far, because Roche OBS is truly a valuable partner. But if you insist… look for professional communication first because this is a relationship and all relationships thrive on good communication.

What’s your main business goal for 2018?

I will be recognized globally as a food & travel photography influencer!

A huge thank you to Barbara for working with us and answering our questions. We are super excited to be supporting her throughout her journey and helping her achieve her business goals. Read on to find out more about Rebecca Ching and the powerful work that she does…

Rebecca, tell us a little bit about your business

I run a brick and mortar integrative mental health practice in San Diego, CA where we treat the whole person and the whole spectrum of mental health issues. We also offer specialized care in treating trauma +anxiety, addictions + compulsive behaviors, shame + perfection struggles, and disordered eating.

I am also starting a new business where I help established leaders navigate the intersection of mindset + mental health through online experiences, consultations and in person workshops based on the research and methodologies of Brené Brown and Internal Family Systems.

Share your mission, vision and values with us…

Potentia is on a mission to help decrease the stigma of mental health struggles and improve the reputation of our field. We value respect for all who enter our doors, specialized care and continued training so we can offer our clients the most cutting edge work our field has to offer, and excellent customer service.

Rebecca Ching is on a mission to help established leaders show up the same way they do at home and at work by staying connected to their core values, decreasing the stigma around struggle and failure, and bring more courageous conversations to their circle of influence around mental health, authenticity, and courage.

At what point in your business did you decide to hire a Virtual Assistant?

When I FINALLY realized it was not a sign of weakness to make an investment in someone to help me with my business goals and dreams.

In what way do you think that having a Virtual Assistant has helped your business grow?

I can breathe now – so I have time to dream, create, strategize in addition to sleep better, find more joy, and excitement about my work. I feel so good about helping my team and those we serve, too. Hiring Debbie and her team was honoring my business core values. Every time I pay Debbie for her time, it brings me joy. I cannot say that about other expenses for my businesses!

What has been the best thing about working with Roche Online Business Services?

As noted above, I can focus on vision, creating, dreaming, and caring for my team while feeling more ease, confidence and clarity.

Rebecca Ching | Client Case Study | Roche Online Business Services

What would you recommend to other businesses who might be looking to hire a Virtual Assistant? What should they look for? How should they prepare?

Take your time in finding the right fit – which means having a clear job description of where you need support. Look for someone you enjoy talking with and believe in, too. I love learning about Debbie’s varied interests and how amazing her brain is.

Prepare to take the time to download your brain – systems, ideas, passwords, workflow. It may feel overwhelming but work this time into your schedule to onboard a VA  – it is the best investment you can make with the right person.

What’s your main business goal for 2018?

Launching RebeccaChing.com and expanding my Potentia team while also getting my content strategy implemented for both.

Tell us a little bit about your “I Choose Respect Campaign”…

For the last 4 years, I have featured leaders from the San Diego area for this effort – sharing the hats they wear in their life along with how they choose respect in the face of struggle and shame. For our 5th anniversary, I am mixing things up and taking this regional movement to a larger community. I want to spread the message of choosing respect when struggles show up instead of shaming, blaming, numbing, avoiding, denying. My hope and prayer is that continuing to share more stories from wholehearted leaders, more people will be moved to take the brave step of getting the support they need so they can show up, create, connect, and contribute in ways that bring more light and courage on this planet. Mental health and mindset struggles are not meant to be battled alone. When more people share their own struggles in these areas, stigma decreases and people getting help increases.

Are you a wholehearted leader and would like to participate? Then you can do so by clicking here and completing the I Choose Respect form. Also check out Rebecca’s amazing “I Choose Respect” manifesto!

A huge thanks to Rebecca Ching and her team at Potentia Therapy for working with us and for answering our questions. We are excited to be helping Rebecca her achieve her business goals for both Potentia and her personal brand. To find out more about Rebecca, visit www.rebeccaching.com. If you are looking for an integrative mental health practice in San Diego then check out www.potentiatherapy.com. And even if you’re not in San Diego, they have some amazing articles and resources on their website.

Client Case Study – Wholelicious

Roche Online Business Services has been working with Wholelicious for over a year. Owner + Founder Andrina Tisi started Wholelicious back in 2011 after embarking on a journey that took her from working in the tourism industry in New York, USA to Yoga teaching and holistic nutrition in Vancouver B.C. In 2013 she fully committed to her dream and left the tourism world to focus on Wholelicious. In 2014 she was called back home to Switzerland and has been building her health and wellness empire in the beautiful city of Zurich.

Andrina, tell us a little bit about Wholelicious

I teach and coach individuals and groups in Yoga, Health and Lifestyle. Wholelicious supports people to come back to their health and stay there. I incorporate different yoga and coaching principles including EFT and Essential Oils. Besides the weekly classes, I also host workshops and retreats as well as online programs.

At what point in your business did you decide to hire a Virtual Assistant?

I noticed that I kept spending a lot of time doing “back stage” tasks such as website updating, admin tasks and so on, and that my processes were not as efficient as I believed they could be. Also many technical things, like WordPress or other systems that I taught myself, started to take up too much time out of my day. I ended up working too many early mornings and late nights.

Why did you choose Roche Online Business Services?

The owner Debbie and I have been friends for quite a few years now, it was really important to me that the person who is helping me knows me, my values and my personality. Plus Debbie is a Yoga Teacher and Nutritionist herself so she knows my field. I felt that certain things didn’t need to explaining to her, she just got it.

In what way do you think that having a Virtual Assistant has helped your business grow?

My new website was a major project for us. As well as implementing booking tools and streamlining processes for events and individuals.

What has been the best thing about working with Roche Online Business Services?

My experience with Roche OBS has proven that they have been the right choice for me and my business, and to be able to delegate certain things has been such a big peace of mind. Plus I 100% trust Debbie and her team.

What would you recommend to other businesses who might be looking to hire a Virtual Assistant? What should they look for? How should they prepare?

Delegating is not only easy, I am still working on that. 😉 Being clear on what you need from your VA helps and saves time. Also don’t settle for the first one, if the fit is not right, move on. You have to be comfortable putting your business into their hands. Start with a few hours / tasks and see how it goes before you give them a major project to do.

What’s your main business goal for 2018?

To grow my business in a sustainable way, meaning not doing more but doing things that work better. Less is more.

A huge thanks to Andrina for working with us and for answering our questions. We are excited to be helping her achieve her business goals this year. To find out more about Wholelicious, visit www.wholelicious.com. You should seriously consider one of her amazing Yoga + Wellness Retreats in Zurich!
